Living Alone

I have been living on my own for almost 6 months now, and it sure has its benefits……you can walk around butt naked, let the dishes pile up on the bench for days, invite whomever you want over whenever you want and you can leave the toilet door open if you want to…..yep life is pretty sweet.

But it has its moments too.

Up the Duff

Up the Duff

Crikey, is it just me or is everyone of late jumping on the pregnant wagon? (excuse the pun).

It seems like every time you turn around, another friend, family member or colleague has a special announcement, and while I’m very happy for these people, I can’t help but wonder why the sudden rush to keep up with the Joneses? Did I miss the memo/text/Facebook feed?

Top 5 Recent Odd Sightings 1

Baffled

Baffled

Odd sightings. They are one of life’s little treats, to make you have a bit of a giggle, leave you baffled with a WTF? moment, and best of all make you realise just how normal you actually are. Here are some particularly odd sightings I have come across in the past few months…

Summer Daze

Isn’t it smashing being on holiday where every day’s a Saturday, and every night’s a Friday night?!

Sleeping in until you feel like getting up smiling smugly at the thought of no dreaded alarm clock; spending the day at the beach, going on a road-trip or choosing to be out and about all night long; meeting up with mates and their little ones who you haven’t seen since your last holiday amazed at how much they’ve grown (the kids that is, not the beer bellies); lazing around in jandals or bare feet in a bit of a daze but without a care in the world.

Nice one…oh sugar, sorry if you’ve had to go back to work already (no, I’m not really sorry).

New Year

It’s hard to believe it’s a new decade in a couple of days.

It seems just like yesterday I was enjoying the celebrations of 1999, watching fireworks shoot from the SkyTower, standing in the rain pissed as a fart, but happy. Remember the madness of the Y2K Bug and how everyone turned their computer off at the wall, slightly panic stricken?!

The Hens Do 3

The Hens Do

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending a Hens Do. Well, actually it was specifically not a Hens Night. By this I mean the Bride to Be declared that there was to be none of this pink veil, bartender kissing, bunny ears bollocks. No Sir. It was to be a classy girls night out – in fact ‘Christmas Drinks with close friends’ if anything – which was one hundred percent fine with me.

The Silly Season

Holy Haka, it’s busy at this time of year aye?

Christmas parties, seasonal catch-up drinks, hangovers, wedding invites, bbqs, summer festivals …crumbs it’s choice.

I’ve had the pleasure of some great dinners out and about Auckland recently including De FonteinGoode Brothers, Fig & Olive and Mutiara. It’s nice to press pause, relax and spend some quality time with close friends and special people during this silly season and the busy lead up to Christmas.

Christmas Shopping

Christmas shopping. It sucks ass.

Yesterday I attempted my first round of Christmas Shopping. Ah it sure was fun! The lack of available car parks, the pushing of people who have apparent ‘I see it, I want it now’ vision as they shove past, never finding a gift idea for Dad, and the ‘peaceful’ Christmas Carols which eventually start to drive me nuts.
