The Silly Season
Holy Haka, it’s busy at this time of year aye?
Christmas parties, seasonal catch-up drinks, hangovers, wedding invites, bbqs, summer festivals …crumbs it’s choice.
I’ve had the pleasure of some great dinners out and about Auckland recently including De Fontein, Goode Brothers, Fig & Olive and Mutiara. It’s nice to press pause, relax and spend some quality time with close friends and special people during this silly season and the busy lead up to Christmas.

Christmas Shopping
Christmas shopping. It sucks ass.
Yesterday I attempted my first round of Christmas Shopping. Ah it sure was fun! The lack of available car parks, the pushing of people who have apparent ‘I see it, I want it now’ vision as they shove past, never finding a gift idea for Dad, and the ‘peaceful’ Christmas Carols which eventually start to drive me nuts.

A Dark & Stormy Night
Caught up friends for a few drinks at The Viaduct the other day. Holy crap, the weather was blowing it up a storm!
One of my friends is very small (bless her little cotton socks) and so was concerned she might be blown into said Viaduct harbour on the walk from the car to the bar. I protectively walked along the water-side of her, in an attempt to shield her from the wind. Must have looked pretty amusing, the wind forcing us to walk sideways like crabs. The average Joe Bloggs probably just thought we were pissed.

Stand-Up Comedy
A couple of nights ago a bunch of us met at the Bluestone Room, which is tucked away in Durham Lane, for a few drinks after work. It was quiz night and therefore a teeny weeny bit annoying since we weren’t participating (hmm, perhaps we should have organised joining in). The heating was turned up way, way too high, so we all had rosy-red shiny cheeks while drinking our vino’s giving new meaning to the term hot toddy….I reckon this may have been a trick for us to order more drinks…

Girls night out
Blimey Charlie, Saturday’s Girls Night Out has well and truly thrown me. I feel as though I’ve been pulled through shrubbery backwards and left by the side of the road weeping quietly into my gumboots. I need to harden up.

The Laughing Buddha
Hurray it’s Wednesday which means it’s hump day, and not long to go until the weekend!
A few nights ago my buddy and I went to Sawadee Thai in Ponsonby Road. I was hankering for a good Thai and Sawadee is a bit of a Thai institution. It’s been around for years, and in my opinion still continues to dish up the best Thai in Auckland.

Hello coffee my dear friend
I admit that I’m often affected by the weather (or should that be effected? I always get that word mixed up).
When the weather’s a little melancholy I adopt a woe is me face and just want to lie on the sofa watching DVDs or pop into a warm and cosy cafe for a long black or chai soy latte, gazing out the window daydreaming.
Here are some of my favourite cafes across Auckland…

The red shoes
By hokey Auckland, I’m looking forward to the weekend!
Despite the fact that it’s only Wednesday, it’s been a long week (and the weather has been nothing but boring rain) so I’m looking forward to fun times with good company.
