My hot friend and I decided to take fate into our own hands – or the bull by the horns to be more precise – and try Speed Dating. We’d both had it to the back teeth with smug snuggled-up-on-the-sofa couples, which is enough to make any good-natured singleton shiver with disgust and bring up their lunch.

My friends and I had a merry time at The Ponsonby. What used to be the old Post Office is now set up as a Belgian bistro and stands proudly on the corner of St Mary’s Road.
